Hello there!
Ciara here, welcome to my very FIRST EVER blog post! I thought you might appreciate a brief introduction so here goes...
I set up my business Homework Interiors in a bold step towards becoming a more serious and grown up version of myself. Having mentored and worked under several hard working, successful and inspiring Interior Designers in Ireland over the last decade, I was recently encouraged to follow my own career path by setting out alone. However, I wasn't, and am not alone. Thankfully, I have had wonderful support from family, friends, colleagues and mentors who have helped every step of the way and who will continue to encourage and guide me as I progress my business. Having always had the drive to take risks and be my own boss and with Interior Designer blood in my veins, I guess it is something that I was meant to do all along. I love how no two days are the same, how every job is met with expectations, challenges and unique quirks. I especially love the people I get to meet, each individual and from all walks of life.
Having worked on projects over the years, large and small, under various other companies or designers, I am elated by the idea of designing the spaces which are loved by my own clients. As you may have already read on the About page, I feel that the second you walk through your own front door, you should instantly feel like it is an extension of your personality, your style and your aspirations. I like to be greeted by challenges, and love it even more when obstacles are overcome and every little detail comes together to make my clients smile and see their room in a way they haven't seen it before.
I have been an active committee member of the Interiors Association (a support network for individuals working in the Interiors Industry) since May 2013 and will continue to help out design students and young designers in their progression through their studies for as long as I can be of help to them. As Student Coordinator for the Interiors Association, I work at guiding interior design students on their studies and their transition into further study or into their careers. So many young designers don't get the support they need when they are first stepping into the industry so it is important to see from their perspective and offer whatever guidance I can, with the help of the rest of the IA committee.
I wanted to write this blog so my Readers (that's you guys!) can get to know me a little, get some insight into what inspires my designs and find some inspiration for your own home. I'll be blogging about Interiors (really, you say!), architecture, art, design and a little DIY, and if you're (un)lucky you might get a snippet into my own life. My designs for clients tend to favour in investing for the long term, with less exclusive (but no less unique) pieces included for how they feel right now in their lives. Feel free to browse my Pinterest and Instagram profiles for inspiration by clicking on the links or the icons on the main menu bar at the top of the page.
I will be welcoming all feedback and comments in my blog so please get in touch if you have any questions about my posts or if you have suggestions on a topic for my upcoming posts, but don't forget to be nice! :)
I will be posting a new blog at regular intervals. I'm going to try once a week and see how it goes- I don't want to saturate my blog with waffle, I want my posts to have a little substance to them and will be including some decent imagery where possible to help inspire and guide you.
Blog posts go up on a Friday so you'll have plenty of time to read over the weekend- save now read later!
'Til next Friday,
Ciara Eloise .
